Nerima Kasuga-cho
Today I will walk counterclockwise from Nerima-Kasuga-cho Station to continue on Kanpachi.
The Kanpachi in this area is not shown on the 1/25,000 topographic map that came with the book “Kashmir 3D Illustrated Case Studies” released in 2004. It seems to be the last place where the Kanpachi was built. Even so, it is more than 15 years old, and the zelkova tree looms large.
Japanese azaleas are conspicuous not only because they bloom before the leaves come out, but also because they bloom earlier than other flowers. When the azalea blooms, you know that spring has arrived.
Seikaen seems to be a gardener, but they also sell killifish.
Killifish seem to be a good business if you can create a new species. However, I cannot imagine how to mass-produce them in a stable manner.
When I see something like an air pollution measurement room, I tend to take pictures.
If there is a cooler, does that mean that there will be people stationed in this room? Or is the purpose to keep the equipment at a constant temperature?
Motinoki Forest of Relaxation. Privately owned land is being released. Is the tree in the middle a Mochinoki tree?
There were many beautiful ipheion uniflorum blooming at my feet. Even though it looks like chives, it is a poisonous plant.
This kind of enclosure makes me very curious about what they are hiding.
There are no signs, etc.
The Shakujii River flows next to this facility.
When I crossed the Shakujii River and turned around, I realized the role of this facility. I had seen a similar facility on the Kanda River.
It was a facility for taking water into an underground reservoir when the water level of the Shakujii River rises due to a large typhoon or some other event.
I found that the official name of this facility is the Shakujii River Intake Facility. The area surrounded by the white wall is a vertical shaft, and the underground reservoir is the Shirakogawa River Underground Regulating Basin.
As I mentioned in a previous article, I often see driving range nets when walking along Kanpachi. This is a sight that I rarely saw when I walked along the inner part of the Kanpachi until the Kannana area.
Nerima Tunnel
From here, you will enter the Nerima Tunnel.
The use of the tunnel is probably to make it a multi-level crossing and for noise reduction. The upper part of the tunnel is open. This way, there is no need for a ventilation station and daytime lighting can be saved.
I found a kindergarten that looks like a western castle!
Compared to this kindergarten, the kindergarten I graduated from was more simple and sturdy.
This starling, perhaps accustomed to people, did not try to run away very much.
Shakujii-Higashi Elementary School is found just beyond the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.
Although it is cut off in the photo, there is a magnificent pedestrian bridge built at an angle to the Kanpachi Expressway.
I thought it was built because the schoolyard was divided when the Kanpachi was built, but it does not seem to be so.
There was an emergency exit from the Nerima Tunnel.
Compared to the Yamanote Tunnel exit on Kannana, which had only a lid, it was built with a lot of money.
There was also an emergency exit. The design is also different.
Iogi Tunnel
I am now at the intersection of KANPACHI Minami-Tanaka. Up to now, I have been heading southwest in an almost straight line, but from here I will head south. It is still almost a straight line. The name of the tunnel changes from Nerima Tunnel to Iogi Tunnel.
The cornflower was in bloom. It is beautiful, but for wheat, it is a very harmful weed that greatly reduces yield.
This is a ventilation station in Igusa 3-chome. I was surprised when I saw it for the first time on Kannana, but I have gotten used to it because I see it everywhere.
The emergency exit was there again. Another new design.
The bridge over the Seibu Shinjuku line begins.
The overpass passes right by the Iogi station. It is a sight that looks somewhat futuristic.
Today, I decided to return from that Iogi station.
